Items are accepted or declined at the sole discretion of Urban Thrift. All consignors must agree to our Guidelines and Terms in full before booking a drop-off.
Items are accepted Tuesday to Friday, from 11am to 5pm. We limit drop-offs to a maximum of 20 items. Items dropped off will be sorted on a first come, first served basis and you will be notified by phone/email of any items we cannot accept. Those items will be held for 15 days from notification and then donated if not picked up.
All items must be clean and folded or on hangers. Items should be in ‘ready to sell’ condition with minimal wear. We are unable to accept items with pilling, holes, stains, pet hair, or scuffs. Leather goods & jewelry items should be polished and cleaned. On higher valued items, steaming and dry cleaning charges may be incurred.
We generally accept summer items Jan 1 - Apr 30 and winter items from Aug 1 - Nov 30.
Bringing your items earlier in the season will give them a better opportunity to sell.
Our consignment contract period (term) is 90 days, with the consignor receiving a 35% split of the item’s final selling price, with exceptions made for higher-value, designer items. Consignors may at any time request by email to be paid out “In store credit” and receive an additional 12% of their consignment balance in store credit. Items are priced at approximately 35–50% of their original retail value and discounts are automatically applied every 30 days.
Any accepted items picked up mid-term will be subject to a 25% handling fee based on the current selling price for each retrieved item.
All items consigned remain the property of the consigner. All reasonable care will be taken, however the consignor agrees that Urban Thrift cannot be held responsible for loss, theft, or damage of consigned items. Urban Thrift reserves the right to discount items for the purposes of sales or promotions, or end of season without notice and at our discretion. End of term consignment items will be donated to charity. We reserve the right to extend and donate selected end of term items to our Partner Charity’s account (Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology, also known as CAWST).
Items cannot be sold through any other service or platform while consigned with Urban Thrift.
In order to make your consignment experience effortless and transparent, we’ve implemented a self-managed web-based tracking system. You are encouraged to log in to your account frequently to check on the status of your items as well as your sales history and account credit.

You may use either consigner credit or in-store credit for in-store purchases. Payouts are done by e-transfer and payouts must be requested by sending an email to [email protected] with the subject line “Payout Request.” Requests received after the 15th will be paid on or before the 1st of the next month, and those received after the 1st will be paid by the 15th of the current month. All payouts are subject to a $1.00 transfer fee.
Dormant accounts, unreachable consignors, and credit on accounts for which we have received no direction will expire after 12 months.
Urban Thrift sets pricing based on condition, brand, season, and current market trends. While most items are priced at 35–50% of their original retail value, high-value or specialty items may be priced differently at our discretion.
Discounts are applied automatically every 30 days to help items sell. We may also adjust prices for sales, promotions, merchandising needs, or clearance events without prior notice.
Items not sold within the 90-day consignment period are subject to donation. Consignors will be notified of declined items, which are held for 15 days before being donated if unclaimed.
All end of term consignment items will be donated to charity. We reserve the right to extend selected end of term items to our Partner Charity’s account (CAWST).
Urban Thrift provides consignors with a convenient web-based portal to monitor sales and inventory. It is your responsibility to track your items. While we aim to provide timely notifications, we are not responsible for missed communications regarding declined or expired inventory.
By consigning with Urban Thrift, consignors acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions. Policies are subject to change at any time. The most current version will always be available here at urbanthrift.ca.
